VeraSafe, a modern data protection and privacy compliance consulting and law firm, believes in the benefits of remote work, including location flexibility. In order to fully experience these benefits, VeraSafe gives its staff $1,300 USD per year to travel for fun. Why?
“Remote Work” Is Not Only “Work From Home”
While many people associate remote work primarily with working from home, remote work creates the possibility to work from practically anywhere. Working from wherever in the world you find convenient and comfortable is the truly revolutionary aspect of remote work.
If You Want to Travel the World, You Should
At VeraSafe, we understand that one of the biggest benefits of remote work is the option to travel and experience new cultures while still being able to do your job. Accordingly, we encourage our team members to make full use of the freedom and location flexibility that remote work offers, including the possibility to travel.
Traveling Is Great for Personal and Professional Growth
Traveling can be an enriching experience, both personally and professionally. It allows us to step out of our usual routine and experience new cultures, languages, and ways of life. This can significantly improve mental agility, creativity and international business savvy, as well as provide inspiration and fresh perspectives on oneself and one’s work.
Travel can also be a great way to prevent burnout, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and recharge.
The benefits of traveling for personal and professional growth are numerous and significant. For these reasons, at VeraSafe, we believe that encouraging and enabling our team members to travel helps them to be more productive, satisfied, and engaged in their work.
How Exactly Does VeraSafe Encourage Its Team Members to Travel?
Supporting our team members in their personal and professional growth is very important to us, and one way we do this is by offering an annual flight benefit. This means that each year, we reimburse each member of our staff up to $1,300 USD for personal flights.
And you don’t have to travel alone: VeraSafe’s travel benefit also allows team members to share the experience with someone else. This means that employees can bring a spouse, partner, friend, or other family member along on their travels.
Where Have VeraSafe Team Members Traveled?
Since we introduced our travel benefit in 2021, VeraSafe team members have been making good use of this opportunity to explore the world. As of the time of writing this article, our team members have used this benefit to visit:

A few words from VeraSafe team members about their flight benefit:
“I am very grateful to VeraSafe for giving me the opportunity to travel to Turkey using my flight benefit. I had always wanted to visit this beautiful country and the fact that my company supports me to do so is simply amazing.
I started my trip in Cappadocia, where I was able to experience the unique beauty of the region through hiking, riding ATVs, meeting locals, and, of course, going on a hot-air balloon ride. From there, I continued my journey by visiting Antalya, Ephesus, and Izmir, immersing myself in the rich culture and history of Turkey. After my time in Turkey, I continued my Eurotrip and visited Greece and Italy for three weeks before returning to my home in Spain. A few weeks later, I used the remainder of my flight benefit to visit Georgia, a digital nomad and mountain-lover paradise! Overall, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to experience the culture and beauty of these amazing countries and I thank VeraSafe for supporting my personal and professional growth.”Isabel Fernández del Campo Aguiló, Privacy Advisor
“The flight benefit at VeraSafe has given me the opportunity to travel to incredible places, do exciting activities, and meet wonderful people all while continuing to do the work I enjoy.
This year I sailed in Greece, ate delicious food in Italy, went hiking and running in Switzerland, visited old friends in The Netherlands, and explored Ireland. I’ve returned to South Africa for summer but I’m already plotting and planning how to use the flight benefit in 2023!
I’m immensely grateful to VeraSafe for this opportunity and actively encouraging travel and exploration.”Lee Shacksnovis, Associate Privacy Counsel
As you can see, our team members are making good use of this opportunity to travel to exciting places.
Now you: Where would you travel to?

“VeraSafe was a bit ahead of its time in establishing a privacy practice more than a decade ago – before privacy was a mainstream issue. Thanks to our great team, our firm has managed to stay at the cutting edge in many respects over the years. An early adopter of remote work in the professional services setting, we have extensive first-hand experience in how to manage a remote team and how, as team members, we can make effective, responsible use of the many benefits that this lifestyle offers. Integrating location flexibility, including short or long term travel, into our professional lives is one of the big favorites at VeraSafe. It’s strategically important that VeraSafe support and encourage our team to occasionally work while traveling, because we find that it is stimulating, it helps our team develop their mental agility and cross-cultural savvy, and increases happiness.”Matt Joseph, President
